Russia Internet Disconnect: Russia successfully completed a "Series Of Tests" on Monday during which it Disconnected the country from the Worldwide Internet.

Russia has successfully tested a country-wide alternative to the global internet, its government has announced.

The tests were conducted over the course of several days on specially designated networks. 

It was followed by a "Sovereign Internet" Bill introduced in November in response to what Russia calls the "Aggressive Nature" of United States national cybersecurity strategy.

Later this year, the Russian government plans to briefly disconnect the entire country from the internet. The brief shutdown is a part of an ongoing effort to sustain Russia’s cybersecurity against foreign attacks that would cut it off from the rest of the world. Thousands protest against the cyber-security bill but there's no effect on this.

Aim of the Russian Series Test's:

The country's national internet base known inside Russia as RuNet could function without access to the Global DNS system and the external internet.

The Russian's "Sovereign Internet" Bill was followed up to create an alternative system.

• The "Sovereign Internet law" has the full lining of President Putin and may be partially inspired by the Great Firewall of China, the informal name for the country’s censored internet. Great Firewall of China, blocks access to many foreign internet services, which in turn has helped several domestic tech giants establish themselves.
• Also, inspired by the country Iran, The National Information Network allows access to web services while controlling all content on the network and limiting external information. It is run by the state-owned Telecommunication Company of Iran.

On, the other side Russia plans to create its own version of Wikipedia and the bill is passed that bans the sale of smartphones that do not have Russian software pre-installed. Now, this New "Sovereign Internet law" bill adds the major lineup for the country to make secure internet.
