RCS (Rich Communications Services) messaging from Google.
RCS(Rich Communications Services) is finally reaching to all Android users in the U.S. This time, officially, as google announced by a blog post today.
Google's finally pushed its RCS messaging services to the carriers in the U.S., nearly five months after it tried the same thing in the U.K. and France.
RCS will be the future of text messaging and the technology that will eventually replace today's SMS and MMS, it’s been Google’s pet project as the way to ‘fix’ messaging on mobile devices ever since the company gave up on Hangouts and Allo. Instead of using a separate messaging app, RCS works just like regular old texting, except it adds a bunch of features usually only available in apps like WhatsApp or Messenger. It provides users a richer messaging experience with the ability to send messages over Wi-Fi, see typing and read receipts, share high-quality images, and more.
Also, the RCS feature works great when you and your friends message each other with these chat features, you can chat over Wi-Fi or mobile data, send and receive high-resolution photos and videos, and see if people have received your latest messages. Plus, you’ll get better group chats, with the ability to name groups, add and remove people to and from groups, and see if people haven’t seen the latest messages.
Google says it’s rolling out RCS, Chat features are already available for some of the users in Messages, and today started rolling them out in the U.S.
If you already have Messages, you’ll also be prompted to enable chat features in the coming weeks.
This is nothing new! works since weeks worldwide with every phone and every provider !
