Microsoft Edge is a web browser developed by Microsoft. It was first released for Windows 10 in 2015, now becomes the "Second Most Popular Web Browser", which has seen a great increase in popularity, even though it has only been available for a matter of months.
As Bleeping Computer noted that;

Edge is now the "second most popular desktop web browser" based on usage, with NetMarketShare giving the software nearly 7.6 percent of the market in March, eclipsing a declining Mozilla Firefox with almost 7.2 percent.

Microsoft Edge is still far behind Chrome's 68.5 percent, but that's no mean feat for a browser that wasn't even three months old.
Bleeping Computer highlighted NetMarketShare’s report that the new Edge has boosted the browser’s market share considerably, surpassing Mozilla Firefox according to the most recent usage data.
Google Chrome still has a commanding lead at nearly 70% of the market, but Edge now sits at 7.59%. That’s up considerably from 5.20% from March 2019 and a very impressive accomplishment for a browser that’s been available for just three months and isn’t the default for Windows quite yet.
This jump makes sense for a few reasons. For one, this is the first time Edge has been available on both Windows and Mac. Plus, since the new Edge is based on Chromium, it’s compatible with all of the popular extensions from Google Chrome which means there’s less of a learning curve for those who switch.

• Google Chrome Web Browser remains the first most popular web browser, taking 68.5 % market share, based on usage on laptops and desktops in March.
• Mozilla Firefox stands third place and now has a 7.59% market share. Firefox in the third spot has a 7.19% market share. 
• At number four is also a Microsoft browser -Internet Explorer 11 - with a 5.60% market share with Apple’s Safari rounding off the top 5 with a 3.62% market share.

in fact, that Microsoft Windows 10 is now installed on a billion devices, Edge has seen its numbers grow. Last year in March, Mozilla Firefox had close to 9.2% market share whereas Microsoft Edge had 5.2%. Clearly, Firefox’s loss has been Microsoft’s gain. Mozilla has been touting Firefox as the safer browser by offering privacy and transparency. Microsoft Edge is the default browser on all Windows-based devices. 
Compared to Google and Chrome, Microsoft is still a long way behind but it certainly has beaten Mozilla Firefox to become the second most used internet browser in the world.
