Microsoft has revealed that its Xbox Game Pass has reaches 10 million subscribers amid Coronavirus Pandemic when billions of people stay home. The service was first launched in 2017 with more than 100 Xbox games for $9.99 per month, though a separate PC-only sub is available for $4.99.
Microsoft's Game Pass Hits 10 Million Subscribers
Microsoft confirmed on Wednesday some figures on its services and subscriptions. For the first time since the beginnings of GamePass, the American company revealed Xbox Game Pass has gained 10 million subscribers amid coronavirus pandemic when billions of people stay home.The service was first launched in 2017 with more than 10 million people are currently subscribed to Microsoft's GamePass, an offer that allows Xbox players to enjoy more than a hundred games for a monthly payment of $9.99 (nearly Rs.756.59 INR). The figures put forward by Microsoft also include Ultimate subscriptions, which give access to GamePass PC, Xbox, and Xbox Live Gold.
According to Microsoft, containment has, of course, impacted the performance of its offer. "There was a record engagement rate during the containment," said Frank Shaw, director of communications at Microsoft.
“We saw all-time record engagement this quarter, with nearly 19 million active users of Xbox Live, led by the strength on and off-console. Xbox Game Pass has more than 10 million subscribers, and we are seeing increased monetization of in-game content and services,” Amy Hood, Chief Financial Officer, Microsoft, said during an earnings call on Wednesday.
Last month, more than 90 million people connected to Xbox Live, a service that is billed separately.
xCloud is also a Hit
Regarding Microsoft's cloud gaming offering, xCloud, several hundred thousand people have already tested the service. The Tech giant has not yet officially launched the service, however.Compared to its competitors, Microsoft performs well.
The Electronic Arts Origin subscription offer has only 5 million subscribers worldwide. Ubisoft and Sony do not reveal their figures.
