Satya Nadella criticized CAA and expressed his view on CAA Law. Ben Smith, Editor-in-Chief of BuzzFeed News, asked a question to the CEO regarding the pressure on firms in India in the purview of CAA. He humbly replied,
It’s a very rare situation for CEOs of tech companies to take a stand on political issues, particularly when they aren’t directly affected. Satya Nadella bucked the trend today, as he's an Indian born CEO and he criticized India’s controversial Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) that excludes Muslim emigrants from obtaining citizenship in India.

And in democracies, that is something that the people and their governments will debate and define within those bounds. I’m shaped by my Indian heritage, growing up in a multicultural India and my immigrant experience in the United States. My hope is for an India where an immigrant can aspire to found a prosperous start-up or lead a multinational corporation benefitting Indian society and the economy at large”.
