The Tech giant Apple Inc. is reportedly shutting down all its corporate offices, stores, and contact centers in mainland China through February 9th.
After the major coronavirus, outbreak has killed more than a 200 people in China, infected nearly 10,000 worldwide, been declared a global public health emergency in China, triggered the first compulsory CDC quarantine in the United States in 50 years and bans on foreign nationals returning from China, and also pushed many airlines to temporarily suspend all flights to the country, it makes sense that Apple would close these buildings out of caution.
This might be the main reason to shut down all its corporate offices, stores, and contact centers in mainland China through February 9th.
Moreover, Nintendo, which consoles in China, has said that the coronavirus is already impacting the production of the Nintendo Switch game console, according to the Kyoto Shimbun.
On the other side, the coronavirus situation may disrupt the production of the rumored upcoming iPhone 9, as well as the latest AirPods. Key Apple partner Foxconn later denied those rumors, assuring that they will 'continue to meet all global manufacturing obligations'.
Anyhow, The Apple online store in China, on the other hand, still remains open.
